The end of the year is quickly approaching! It's hard to believe it is almost time for our silver snow leopard students to move onto 7th grade. This is a wonderful group of students and it has been fantastic to be able to work with them this year.
We are in the process of applying what we have learned about reading biographies and autobiographies. Students selected a biographical subject of their own choosing and have spent time learning about them through Internet research. After completing a research guide in the form of a resume or bio-cube, students selected a project to present what they have learned to the class. Students were given the option of creating a timeline or artifact poster using an awesome website called glogster (www.glogster.com). Other options included creating a talk show skit as if they were interviewing their subject and taping the skit using our new flip cameras or creating a graphic organizer using Inspiration. We were lucky enough to have Mrs. Knudsen, a technology expert from the high school, spend two days in our room to help with research and project creations. I am so excited to see the final projects. Everyone has been having a great time researching, learning, and creating their projects. Final projects will be shared on Wednesday, May 26th.
Following the completion of our biography unit, students will spend time completing a vocabulary review activity with words from our vocabulary journals we have been completing throughout the year. Finally, we will spend time reviewing the reading strategies we worked on this year and figure out how we can continue to apply those skills next year.
